Traditional Peigan burial grounds were being threatened with flooding by the construction of the Three Rivers (Oldman) dam in 1990. The Lonefighters, a traditional Peigan warrior society, led by Milton Born-with-a-tooth, diverted the river around the dam.

They were confronted by 100 armed RCMP officers and Milton fired two warning shots in the air. He was charged and the dam construction continued.
